Inner Critic Group Program

This program helps you understand and manage your inner critic. It's designed for those dealing with social anxiety, low self-esteem, or perfectionism. You'll learn practical tools to reduce self-criticism and build self-compassion.

Program Details

Is this group right for me?

If perfectionism, people-pleasing, or harsh self-talk hold you back, this group helps you understand your inner critic and build a kinder, more supportive inner voice.

Weekly Group Sessions

Participate in a structured 90-minute session each week over four weeks to process emotions and build coping strategies in a safe environment.

Small, Supportive Group

We keep our groups to a maximum of 10 people for a comfortable, contained experience. This fosters a supportive atmosphere while maintaining privacy and individual attention.

Guided by Experienced Professionals

The group is facilitated by two psychologists trained in Schema Therapy. You’ll be guided through reflective and experiential practices in a way that’s structured, respectful, and growth-oriented.

Benefits

How this program aims to assist

Schema Therapy explores how unhelpful patterns of thinking and coping develop — and how we can shift them. This group focuses on identifying and working with the demanding inner critic mode in particular.

Practical Tools for Everyday Life

Learn how to spot and challenge your inner critic in real time, and practise healthier ways of responding.

A Non-Judgmental Space

You won’t need to share everything — just what feels comfortable. We focus on safety, trust, and gentle pacing.

Build Self-Compassion

Begin shifting from harsh self-judgment to self-understanding. Learn to connect with a more caring internal voice.

Facilitators

Who will run the group?

FAQs

Any questions?

Here’s everything you need to know about our group program, from what to expect in sessions to costs and post-group support.

Do I need to talk about my past experiences in the group?

No, you won’t be asked to share personal details of your difficult experiences. The group is designed to help you process emotions privately while benefiting from the support of a structured and guided group setting.

What if I get overwhelmed?

That’s understandable. The group is designed to be gentle and supportive, and we check in regularly. You can take breaks, pause, or opt out of exercises if needed.

Do I need to share personal details?

Not at all. You’re welcome to share only what feels right. The focus is on internal reflection and practical tools — not full disclosure.

Is this for trauma?

This group is focused on self-criticism and low self-worth — it may support people who’ve experienced trauma, but it’s not a trauma-processing group.

Can I attend online?

Currently, this group runs in person only. Our clinic is at 130 Johnston St, Fitzroy. See more about our clinic HERE.
