We take your privacy seriously. If you’re sharing personal information with us, you deserve to know exactly how we’re handling it.
Why we collect information
We only collect the info we need to support your care, things like your name, contact details, Medicare number, and a bit about your background and wellbeing. This helps us plan and deliver therapy that fits you.
How we collect it
You’ll usually give us this info directly, when you book in, fill out forms, or chat with your psychologist. Sometimes, and only with your consent, we might receive information from other health professionals or support people you’re working with.
What we do with your info
We use your information to help us support you through therapy. It helps us track progress, write referrals (if needed), and tailor your treatment. We don’t use your details for marketing, and we don’t share them without your okay, unless we’re required to by law or there’s a serious risk of harm.
Confidentiality
Everything you share with us stays confidential. There are a few legal exceptions—like if we believe someone’s safety is at risk, or we’re required by a court. If that happens, we’ll do our best to talk it through with you first.
Your rights
You can ask to see your personal info at any time. Just send us a written request. If something looks off, we’ll help fix it. We might say no in rare situations (e.g. if it risks someone else’s privacy), but we’ll always explain why.
Keeping things secure
We store your records in secure systems that follow ethical and legal guidelines. Any printed documents are stored safely too. Only authorised team members can access your records.
Data breaches
In the unlikely event of a data breach, we follow all national protocols and will let you know if it affects you.
Making a complaint
If you’re worried about how your information has been handled, please reach out to us at hello@makelemonade.com.au. We’ll do our best to sort things out. You can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au if you’d like to take it further.
Updates
We may update this policy to reflect changes in laws or best practices. The most recent version will always be on our website.
