Small, Supportive Group

We keep our groups to a maximum of 10 people for a comfortable, contained experience. This fosters a supportive atmosphere while maintaining privacy and individual attention.

Benefits

How this program aims to assist

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a proven psychotherapy approach that helps individuals process and integrate distressing memories. The G-TEP adaptation brings these benefits to a group setting, offering a unique blend of personal reflection and communal support. Here's why our program stands out:

Effective Stress Reduction

EMDR has been shown to effectively treat a wide range of symptoms, from depression and anxiety to chronic illness and addiction.

Confidential and Supportive Environment

In G-TEP sessions, you won’t need to share specific details of your experiences. This “Blind 2 therapist” approach ensures privacy while fostering a sense of community.

Skill Development

Learn self-regulation techniques that you can apply in daily life, enhancing your resilience and emotional well-being.

FAQs

Any questions?

Here’s everything you need to know about our group program, from what to expect in sessions to costs and post-group support.

How does EMDR group therapy differ from individual EMDR sessions?

EMDR group therapy combines the structured, evidence-based approach of EMDR with the supportive environment of a group setting. Participants benefit from shared experiences and communal healing while maintaining privacy, as specific personal details are not required to be shared.

Do I need to talk about my past experiences in the group?

No, you won’t be asked to share personal details of your difficult experiences. Group EMDR is designed to help you process emotions privately while benefiting from the support of a structured and guided group setting.

Is EMDR therapy suitable for children or adolescents?

While EMDR therapy can be effective for individuals of all ages, our current group sessions are tailored for adults. If you’re seeking EMDR therapy for a younger individual, please contact us for recommendations on appropriate services.

What if I become emotionally overwhelmed during a group session?

Our facilitators are trained to create a safe and supportive environment. They will provide coping strategies and interventions to help manage emotional distress during sessions. Additionally, the group format allows for communal support, enhancing the healing process.

Are there any prerequisites for joining the EMDR group therapy program?

Participants are encouraged to have an initial consultation with our facilitators to determine if the group setting is appropriate for their current needs. This ensures that each participant can benefit fully from the program.

Can EMDR group therapy help with issues other than trauma?

Yes, while EMDR is renowned for treating trauma, it has also been effective in addressing anxiety, depression, phobias, and other emotional challenges. Our facilitators can help determine if EMDR group therapy aligns with your therapeutic goals.

Can I attend online?

This group program is currently in-person only. Our clinic is at 130 Johnston St, Fitzroy. See more about our clinic HERE.
